How to waste a Sunday afternoon
Attempt to get advance tickets to the Uffizi gallery Saturday afternoon. Find out that reservations by phone are not available Saturday after 12:30. Find out that on the internet, only 80 tickets per hour are available, which are sold out a week in advance. On Sunday, go to the Uffizi nevertheless. Wait 2 hours in line. Go home after estimating that you will wait another hour and then will have about 2 hours visiting time left in the museum.

We need some Yanks in there to get you some American-style efficiency! (Pronounciation Note: "MER-uh-kin.")
:) Glad you guys at least got a little bit of time in there, finally.
And how. There's not much efficiency in Italy in general (I've heard there might be more in the north). Like today, I was at the post office paying a bill (don't ask me to explain how the system works), and there were two windows dealing with people paying bills, and the woman at one of them would take a 5-20 minute break after helping each person.
We actually got out of line before we got in to the museum, so we'll try again some other time. I did use that time to read, though, so for me it was productive.
I'll try to think of you next time I'm complaining about the long line at the Post Office. :) 5-20 minutes?! Between each person?!? Did you manage to finish "War and Peace" or what?
